Witter Farm Superintendent Interviewed for Garelick Closure Report

Comments from the University of Maine’s Jake Dyer, superintendent of the university’s J.F. Witter Teaching and Research Center, which includes a 40-head dairy herd, were included in a Bangor Daily News article about the effect on Maine farmers who sell milk to Garelick Farms, which has announced it will close in January. Dyer said small, local farms that will incur extra costs to transport milk further south for processing will suffer most because of their limited incomes derived from milk sales.
