National Education Magazine Features UMaine Student Project
A UMaine research project was noted in an Inside Higher Ed article about a Florida meeting of prevention educators. The story included information about a project by former UMaine graduate student Molly Schenck, who wrote and directed a play, “It’s Not that Simple,” in 2008. She resurrected the dance-theater-new media performance again in 2011 as a capstone research project at UMaine, and surveyed members of the audience, cast and crew before and after the performance to see how their perceptions of sexual assault changed. Perceptions had changed remarkably for the better, said Schenck, who is now a student success coordinator at Arizona State University.
