Forest Resources Researchers, Anthropologist in ‘Sustainable Maine’ Broadcast

University of Maine School of Forest Resources students and faculty members Rob Lilieholm, John Daigle and Bill Livingston, anthropologist Darren Ranco, coordinator of UMaine’s Native American Studies, and several Maine Indian Basketmakers were featured in an Oct. 4 airing of “Basket Trees — Saving a Tradition,” a Sustainable Maine documentary on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. The documentary is about threats from the invasive emerald ash borer beetle to Maine’s ash trees and the future of the state’s Native American basket-making traditions. The production will air again on MPBN at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21.
