Blackstone Interviewed for MSN Today ‘Moms’ Article

An article on the MSN Today Moms Website discussing whether a “mom gene,” or a genetic link to nurturing traits and behavior, exists in mice included comments from University of Maine sociologist and department chair Amy Blackstone, who said evidence supporting such a gene in mice might send a negative message to women who choose not to have children. Given the social pressure on women to have children, Blackstone said, finding a genetic link to “good mom traits” could make women who don’t believe they have the characteristic feel “even more marginalized.”
