The Bangor Daily News interviewed former U.S. Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, who was on the UMaine campus Tuesday for the annual Mitchell Lecture on Sustainability and also to appear at a rally hosted by the UMaine Democrats student group. Acknowledging that politics has always been rough and tumble, Mitchell also bemoaned the bitterness that characterizes so much of today’s campaigns. Channel 5 (WABI) aired a report on the rally, at which Mitchell and U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud spoke. Michaud said jobs and the economy are a major concern for college students, especially those who are about to graduate and enter the workforce.
