UMaine Athletics Names Five to Hall of Fame

The University of Maine has selected five former student-athletes for induction into the 2012 Sports Hall of Fame. Former women’s basketball standout Kim Corbitt (2005), men’s basketball player Charlie Goddard (1950), hockey star Steve Kariya (1999), track and field record-holder Richard Nason (1964) and softball great Michelle Puls (1998) will be inducted in the 2012 class.

An induction ceremony and dinner is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at Wells Conference Center to be preceded by a reception in the Hall of Fame lobby in Memorial Gym at 6 p.m. The honorees will be recognized at halftime of the Maine football game against Villanova the following day. Tickets for the Hall of Fame banquet are $40 and are available at the University of Maine ticket office by calling 581-BEAR or 1-800-756-TEAM.
