UMaine, Casella Pipeline Talks Continue

The Bangor Daily News reported that the Maine Public Utilities Commission has granted a fifth extension to allow a Casella Waste Systems Inc. subsidiary and Bangor Gas Co. LLC to continue discussions over whether a proposed pipeline bringing methane gas from a local landfill to the University of Maine will hurt business for Bangor Gas, which sells gas in the area.

UMaine expects to save $15 million by using Juniper Ridge Landfill’s methane to run boilers and heat buildings over a 20-year period. The Equities.com website also posted the story.
