UMaine Brook Trout Study Cited in Invasives Article

A 1991 University of Maine School of Economics study on the popularity of brook trout fishing in Maine’s fresh waters was cited in a Portland Press Herald article on threats to the species from the illegal practice of stocking invasive non-native invasive fish into ponds and lakes.

The UMaine research showed that nearly 90 percent of people who fish in the state prefer to fish for brook trout above any other type of fish. The Associated Press also distributed a version of the article.
