Phytoplankton Research Noted in Working Waterfront

The monthly newspaper Working Waterfront included on its website a mention of research conducted by UMaine’s Mary Jane Perry into spring phytoplankton blooms. The blooms are an indication of carbon sequestration in the deep sea, a key process that researchers around the world are incorporating into global climate models. The article was co-written by Catherine Schmitt, communications coordinator of the UMaine-based Maine Sea Grant.
