TV News Interviews Student Researchers about Red Tide Grant

Channel 2 (WLBZ) and Channel 7 (WVII) interviewed UMaine Ph.D. candidates Janice Duy and Amber Bratcher Monday for news reports about the research the students are doing with School of Marine Sciences research professor Laurie Connell on earlier detection of the toxic algae Alexandrium, commonly known as red tide, which can cause paralytic shellfish poisoning. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently allocated $574,028 for the research, a collaborative project with the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
