Graduate Assistantship

• This position has been filled for the school year 2012-2013.
• Applications are being taken for the graduate assistant positions for the school year 2013-2014.

• Projected start date is August 26, 2013.
• Student must be enrolled as a full time student in the Graduate School at the University of Maine to be considered. Only applicants with work study and graduate assistantship award may apply.
• The Graduate Assistantship for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) is a nine-month, 20 hours a week position, which includes some evenings and weekends.
• Applicants for this position must have strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population and an interest in helping college students in their academic careers.
• Only applicants with work-study and or graduate assistantship award may apply.

Responsibilities

• Advice organize outreach initiatives that engages students of color
• Assist in the implementation of programs and services for the multicultural Center
• Supervise the daily operations of the multicultural Center
• Participates in the programs and services of the Student Affairs Division
• Attend graduate assistant staff meetings
• Other duties as may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Be eligible for Federal Work Study
• Have earned a Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of computers with excellent  word processing abilities
• Some public speaking experience
• Enrolled on a fulltime basis at the University of Maine in a graduate program
• The applicant must have a significant interest in racial and cultural diversity and be creative in program development.

Undergraduate/Graduate Internship

• Students can complete a variety of internship through this office. All internships are unpaid positions. The research or project ideas for internships should center around themes of a multicultural nature and reflect the diversity of our populations. Positions are available at this time. Each year five interns are accommodated in each semester.

Undergraduate Work-Study

• There are no positions available for 2012-2013 year

Undergraduate Non-Work-Study

• One position is available at this time
