Social acceptance and stakeholder engagement are critical factors affecting the development of renewable energy. With this in mind, we have initiated social science research to understand the human dimensions of tidal energy development in Eastern Maine, including potential social impacts and stakeholder perceptions and concerns.

Based on this research in Eastern Maine and other sites, we will develop a model of community engagement for implementation of tidal energy projects in Maine and beyond.
