Reader’s Theater: “La Cantatrice Chauve” February 4th, 2009 7:30pm
The students of French 309 (fall 2008) presented a reading of Eugéne Ionesco's "La Cantatrice Chauve" (The Bald Soprano) in French at the Minsky Recital Hall. Anyone with an intermediate level of spoken French could understand and enjoy this play since it relies on set phrases that everyone who studied French memorized. It is interesting to note that Ionesco wrote a number of dialogues for a beginner French textbook widely used in the US. The reading was filled with rich philosophical meaning, proven language learning techniques, and insane communicative disasters!
