Welcome to Modern Languages and Classics

Important announcement to students, faculty, alums, and supporters of language study

Due to the current difficult fiscal situation and resultant dwindling resources, the B.A. program in Latin has been eliminated.  The B.A. programs in German and Modern Languages remain in suspension and no new students are being accepted.  Please note that admission to the minors in German and Latin has also been suspended, though courses in beginning Latin and beginning and intermediate German continue to be offered.  We welcome your enrollment in these languages, and thank you for your continued support of language study at UMaine.

The B.A. programs in French, Spanish, and Romance Languages are not affected by the recent eliminations or suspensions.
