When: Mon, Apr 14 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Description: Desperate Alewives And Culvert Operations: Connecting Science with Television
Frank Ferrel, Independent Film Producer

As a scientist or researcher, how do you tell your story? What you present in a peer conference may be very different from how you tell that same story to a television audience. Frank Ferrel, award-winning writer, producer and director of the SSI science series, Sustainable Maine, takes us behind the scenes to illustrate just what it takes to present a complex research project to a lay viewing television audience. Together with videographer, Brett Plymale, they will demystify their jargon and discuss the use of visual techniques and storytelling tools using video examples and hands-on demonstrations of interview techniques.
