What problem/s are you working to solve?
Information, market, and institutional failures.
What progress are you making toward solutions?
We’re making progress in three areas:
How could your findings contribute to a more sustainable future in Maine and beyond?
My research contributes to a larger effort to help Maine avoid costly surprises by creating “model” institutions and ideas that simultaneously support economic, social, and environmental systems.
Why did you decide to join SSI?
I joined SSI because it presents an exciting opportunity to continue my interdisciplinary research activities, it has the potential to create long-lasting partnerships across educational institutions in Maine, and it is engaging students and faculty to pursue creative solutions.
What’s the best part about collaborating on SSI research projects?
Getting to know colleagues and students from different disciplines and institutions and interacting with diverse stakeholders. Stepping off campus and into the field to interact with others helps put my research activities in context.
Where’s your favorite place in Maine?
Around the Mountain Loop, Acadia National Park
What’s your ultimate Maine experience?
Hiking Mount Katahdin
Mud season survival strategy?
Marvelous and silly rain-boots, strategic Peeps consumption, and adventurous mud-running.
What sustains you?
Laughter, humility, coffee, outdoor activities, and a fabulous partner named Bob.
