Employment - 2014 Summer Student Hydrology Field Assistant Positions

The Environmental Geosciences Group in the School of Earth and Climate Sciences and the Senator George J. Mitchell Center -  Maine Water Resources Research Institute are sponsoring several summer field assistant positions for undergraduate or graduate students. The shared positions will support field activities related to watershed and groundwater projects in Maine, including locations near Orono, Houlton, Wells, Sebago, and Bar Harbor.

Activities may include stream channel surveys, drainage network mapping, stream flow and groundwater measurement, and water quality sampling. Tasks may include operation of sampling and survey equipment, GIS mapping, data management, and other supportive activities related to project operations. Some of the work may involve water sampling during storm events in coastal areas.

The paid positions will run for 10 to 12 weeks (May through August). Preference given to students that have completed coursework related to hydrology and/or have had student experiences involving field work. Pay scale will be based on standard University rates.
