Mathematics Lecturer

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Maine invites applications for a fiscal- year Lecturer in Mathematics, effective September 1, 2013. Continuation of this appointment beyond the initial one-year term is contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.

A Master’s degree in Mathematics is required by date of hire. A Ph.D in Mathematics is preferred. Candidates should exhibit a strong commitment to teaching, with demonstrated evidence of both teaching effectiveness and experience teaching international students. Responsibilities will primarily consist of teaching calculus and applied business mathematics to students in the University’s International Study Center (ISC), participating in ISC instructor orientation and regularly scheduled ISC staff meetings, and contributing to and participating in ISC staff development sessions. Additional teaching responsibility may include regular Department of Mathematics and Statistics service courses.

The teaching load for this position will be three 4-credit courses in each of the Fall 2013 semester, the Spring 2014 semester, and the 2014 Summer session.
