MainePSP Leadership Academy Summary Information:
In order to sustain the outcomes of the Maine Physical Sciences Partnership, the MainePSP recognizes the need for strong teacher-leaders in our community. The purpose of the MainePSP Leadership Academy is to prepare teachers to assume leadership roles in changing the way science is taught. It will provide teachers with a deep understanding of what is required to create such change and what skills are needed to drive, support, and sustain these changes.
The first cohort of the MainePSP Leadership Academy is designed for grades 6-9 science teachers who have been active community members of the MainePSP and are ready to commit to leading and supporting the building of an infrastructure to strengthen rural STEM education within their school, district, the Maine Physical Sciences Partnership, and even at the state/national level. Up to ten MainePSP teachers will be accepted into this first cohort. Candidates should demonstrate a desire to establish themselves in the role of a leader outside of their classroom, in addition to being an accomplished teacher.
