Curriculum Selection - Summer Academy
The first annual summer academy was held in 2011 from June 27 to July 1, at the Schoodic Education Research Center on Schoodic Peninsula on the Maine coast. The event is a week-long opportunity for teachers, resource coordinators, teacher partners, and others to engage in professional development.
The purpose of the academy is to help participants use in-class materials, deepen knowledge of science topics that are taught in grades 6 to 9, and develop a professional teacher community, bound together through common experience and interests.
Preference for participation in the summer academy is given to those teachers interested in pilot teaching the common set of teaching materials chosen by by the Maine Physical Sciences Partnership curriculum evaluation task force. To express interest in participating in a future summer academy, please contact your curriculum coordinator!
