Using Your MaineCard

Use & Abuse of MaineCard (Physical & Mobile)

As the holder of an active Mobile MaineCard and/or an active physical MaineCard, please be aware that sharing your MaineCard credentials with others (such as family, friends, or roommates) is prohibited. This action may cause a safety risk to you and to others living around you.

The sharing of your personal credentials may result in the loss of your physical MaineCard and the possibility of a referral to student conduct.

As of 1/1/2024, University policy requires that students may only have one form of credential. Students may select a physical MaineCard or a Mobile MaineCard but cannot have both.

Thank you for understanding. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at um.mainecard@maine.edu or call 207.581.2273.

Residence halls and rooms are locked at all times and are accessible only by the residential student’s MaineCard or Mobile MaineCard.

Your Mobile MaineCard will give you access to your residence hall. If using an Apple iPhone, your phone can have a dead battery and still allow you to access your door within a certain timeframe.

If you need assistance with your MaineCard not working on your room, please call 207-581-4371 between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, please call University Police at 207-581-4040.

Off-campus students, faculty, and staff can sign up for Commuter Meal Plans online. Visit UMaine Dining for more information about meal plans and dining options.
