Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv)

2 pigsPorcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus was first detected in the U.S. in May 2013 and has since spread to at least 26 states. The link below connects with the National Pork Board fact sheet on PEDv. Although PEDv has not yet been detected in Maine, the State has recently imposed a new requirement for swine entering the state. The following statement must be included on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection: “To the best of my knowledge, swine represented on this certificate have not originated from premises known to be affected by Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv), and have not been exposed to PEDv within the last 30 days.”
