The Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge is coming to Maine!
For the first time the University of Maine is hosting the Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge in Waterville, Maine. More than 120 students from 14 universities from the northeastern U.S. and Canada will be competing. As part of this event a Technology Seminar will be held to update the dairy industry on the latest in dairy research. We hope you can attend!!

About the Speakers
Dr. Mike Van Amburgh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Cornell University. A major focus of Dr. Van Amburgh’s research program has been the nutrient requirements of dairy calves and heifers and aspects of endocrine control of developmental functions such as mammary development and puberty. He has authored more than 50 research articles. He is the recipient of the American Dairy Science Associate Foundation Scholar Award, the Land O’Lakes Teaching and Mentoring Award, and the AFIA Award for research.
Tom Kilcer is the owner of Advanced Ag Systems, a research, education and consulting firm that specializes in agronomic solutions for dairy producers. Tom has 34 years of experience as a Field Crop and Soils Educator and Program Leader with Cornell Cooperative Extension. His integrated crop/dairy/farm management program considers the impact of a decision across your entire farm system. This approach utilizes available resources, limitations, and time to optimize the profitable production of milk from forages. He has been conducting cutting edge research on forage, plant nutrition, and bio-industrial crops in partnerships with both university and private industry.
What is the Dairy Challenge?
There’s now one event that brings together the best and brightest collegiate students who are diligently studying for a career in the dairy industry: The North American Dairy Challenge. NAIDC is a unique two-day competition among teams representing North American universities’ dairy science programs. The competition challenges those institutions to inspire their students with a high quality education – empowering them with resources for real-world success. This challenge incorporates all facets of a working dairy business in a forum that’s interactive, educational and fun. The NAIDC is the competition for tomorrow’s dairy leaders.
Registration
Registration for the Dairy Technology Seminar is $15.00 per person and includes the buffet lunch. Registration by mail, phone, fax or email must be received by Friday, October 26, 2012. Registrations can also be made through sponsors for the event.
