Michael Howard is a Professor of Philosophy whose research in social and political philosophy focuses on theories of justice, global justice, basic income, environmental justice, economic democracy, and socialism. He has published three books and over forty articles and book chapters, and regularly integrates his research into his teaching. Michael teaches a diversity of courses on subjects including social justice, global justice, the history of philosophy, formal logic, and the philosophy capstone seminar, and receives consistently high course evaluations and praise from students for creating an open and inclusive environment for discussion and learning. He also regularly lectures for the Honors College and frequently serves on Honors thesis committees. He has participated in teaching workshops organized by the College and the Center on Teaching Excellence, participates in Reader’s Theatre, and works with campus and community organizations to provide educational speakers and programs on topics related to peace and social justice.
