We are once again offering a Photography Workshop for 4-H members on Saturday, April 14, 10am-2pm at the KL Cooperative Extension office. Come learn more about your camera and how to take better pictures. In the session “Mystery Subject,” 4-H leader and art teacher Laura Freeman will help us explore the elements of an interesting image without getting hung up on the subject. Professional Photographer Kim Miller will help us take better portraits in several light conditions in “Photographing People.” One session on “Stop Motion Animation” will be lead by members of the PhotoGraphic Chickens 4-H club. This workshop is limited to 20 participants, so pre-register to get your spot! Bring a lunch, snacks provided. Parents are welcome to stay too. Call or email 832-0343, pamela.doherty@maine.edu.

The Knox-Lincoln Leaders’ Association has voted to pay the cost of accident insurance in 2012 for all enrolled Knox-Lincoln 4-H members and leaders, covering them at 4-H events and meeting activities for the year. We are asking clubs and individual members who are able to reimburse the cost of this insurance (which is $1 per member, $2 for each horse project member or leader) back to KLLA. We thank you for your assistance.
Knox-Lincoln 4-H wants to encourage youth in our counties to participate in Global Youth Service Day by volunteering to clean up garden beds or perform other needed tasks at nearby community gardens and school gardens. Then tell us about it!
Earth day, April 22, 2012, marks the 24th year of Global Youth Service Day. This event (April 20-22, 2012) is celebrated in more than 100 countries, and recognizes the positive impact that young people have on their communities 365 days a year. Organized by YSA (Youth Service America), a leader in the international youth service movement, Global Youth Service Day offers youth, ages 5 to 25, the resources and support to plan meaningful projects that improve their communities.
