4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Knox-Lincoln Extension office, 377 Manktown Rd., Waldoboro
This course is for teachers, cooks, after-school staff, parents, community volunteers, and Master Gardener Volunteers who will tie garden learning to the classroom and cafeteria and want to start or maintain a school garden. Topics to be covered include: composting, soils, garden planning & design, seed starting, care of seedlings, seed-saving, pollinators, native plants, and orchards for school gardens. Experiential lessons, curricular connections, and fundraising ideas will also be explored. Guest speakers Mark Hutchinson, Caragh Fitzgerald, Neil Lash, Liz Stanley, and Rebecca Jacobs will join Extension Educator Ellie Libby to provide participants with a wealth of ideas and inspiration for the upcoming growing season. Class meetings will be at the Knox-Lincoln Extension Office (377 Manktown Rd., Waldoboro). No class 2/27. The $50 registration fee includes a binder of materials and all five classes.
