University of Maine Cooperative Extension educator and pest management specialist Jim Dill discussed with the Bangor Daily News ^[1] some of the myths about winter ticks, which are beginning to hatch now that the weather is getting colder. Moose ticks, also called winter ticks and feed on both moose and deer, are plentiful this year, according to Dill, but only one in four carries Lyme Disease. The best way to remove a tick, Dill said, is to use tweezers or something that can get close to the skin and pull the tick away carefully.
