Study Abroad Programs - Université d’Angers

Université d’Angers has a very active student life, with regularly scheduled concerts, opportunities for involvement in sports, lectures, movies, and a whole variety of student clubs and organizations.The town of Angers (population 260,000) is located along the banks of the river Maine in the verdant region of the Loire Valley.  Angers is best known for its medieval Chateau that looms large over the city and houses one of the oldest tapestry collections in the world.  In recent years, Angers has become quite the cosmopolitan city with a plethora of cultural events, museums, shopping, discothèques, restaurants and cafés.  Students play an active role in the life of Angers, and opportunities for sporting events abound.  With the arrival of the high-speed train, the trip between Angers and Paris has been reduced to just over an hour.

Academics:

Undergraduate: A minimum of two years college-level French study is required. All courses are taught in French. Students can take classes at the French Language Center for Foreigners (CeLFE). In addition to course work in French language, culture, and theatre taught by CeLFE, students may enroll in one or two classes with French students in the departments of Modern Languages, History, and Psychology. For credit transfer equivalency between Universite d’Angers and UMaine see below:

Undergraduate program in Business: The University of Angers offers a program in “International Business” Certificate. Exchange students for the fall semester may take 3 classes at 3 credits each – Marketing, Business Finance and Law (taught in English). Students can supplement their their program with CeLFE classes, such as Business English (translation course). In the spring semester, the program offers Law for 3 credits in English. Students may take more CeLFE classes.

Graduate program in Business: The University of Angers also offers graduate courses in Business which are a good fit for students enrolled in the MBA program at UMaine. Visit the list of graduate Business courses at Angers with UMaine credit equivalencies. Programs Available:

  • Spring Semester “International Business: Marketing and Investment”
