Incoming Exchange - Application Process

Application Deadlines

Fall semester/Academic year exchanges  – April 1

Spring Semester Exchanges  – November 1

Late applications may be considered on a space-available basis.

Application Materials

 Incoming Exchange Student Application (standard version of PDF form)

Incoming Exchange Student Application (fill-able version of PDF form)

Visiting Graduate Exchange Student form (PDF) – for graduate applicants only (the fee is waived for graduate exchange students)

Application Submission

Applications must be submitted electronically in PDF format to the UMaine study abroad advisor at Early applications are strongly encouraged for housing and course registration purposes.

Application Processing

All application materials must be submitted before applications can be processed, and immigration documents issued.

Visa Information

If you are accepted as an exchange student, the University of Maine will issue Form DS-2019, a Certificate of Eligibility for the Exchange Visitor Visa (J-1). As a J-1 visa holder you are obligated to pursue a full-time academic program
