Student Recreation and Fitness Center

The Student Recreation and Fitness Center is the place to see and be seen – whether your scene involves a Stairmaster, skis or swimming. The 87,000-square-foot, $25 million facility opened in 2007. It offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment, an indoor track, pool and hot tub, multi-use courts, cardio and weight equipment. Need a little motivation? No problem –personal training services are available. Oh, and if you’re a student, membership is included in your tuition and fees.

 


Fogler Library

The Fogler Library is the largest library in Maine. The building houses a Listening Center, Learning and Materials Center, and Special Collections (with manuscripts by Stephen King).

 


Memorial Union

The Memorial Union is the campus center of student activities and recreational programs. The Union houses offices for Student Government and the Center for Students and Community Life, as well as numerous meeting rooms and lounges for study and relaxation. Other Union facilities include; Recreation Center, computer cluster, ATMs, ride board, Bookstore, Campus Information Center, Post Office, copy center, eateries and coffee shops, and an expansive food court. The Hole in the Wall gallery and Hauck Auditorium are inside the Union as well.


Maine Bound

Maine Bound is an outdoor adventure education program that takes learning out of the classroom and into the natural, elemental setting of rivers, mountains, and forests. The experienced Maine Bound Staff is available to teach and guide you in not only the technical aspects of the course you choose but also in developing skills you can use throughout your lifetime. Maine Bound offers programs and trips such as backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, wilderness medicine, kayaking, cross country skiing, winter camping, ice climbing, international expeditions and ropes course programs. Maine Bound offers students a climbing wall on campus and an Outdoor Equipment Rental Program for camping, canoeing, kayaking, rock and ice climbing needs, and more.


Collins Center for the Arts

The  Collins Center for the Arts, the cultural focus of the University and surrounding region. The  Concert Hall presents a wide assortment of live performances throughout the year, ranging from classical music to bluegrass, avant-garde dance to Broadway musicals, jazz to folk and ethnic music, comedy to family entertainment, and much more.


University Forest

The University Forest offers walking, jogging, biking, and skiing on miles of gravel roads and marked trails. A paved bike path extends from Old Town to the main campus. The forest has over three miles of frontage on the Stillwater River, providing canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming opportunities.
