Native American Festival & Basketmakers Market, July 12th, 2014
American Folk Festival, August 23rd and 24th, 2014
Among the collections of the Hudson Museum are puppets, dolls, toys, and games from around the world as well as works made by children, ranging from Precolumbian pottery to Maine Indian baskets. This rich assemblage features objects from diverse cultures that transcend cultural differences.
The Hudson Museum exhibit will showcase shadow puppets from Indonesia and Iran as well as games of chance, such as Waltes, a bowl and dice game played among the Wabanaki of the Northeast. Child produced works include Coclé and Mimbres pottery that date c. 1000 and Maine Indian basket forms that children made as they learned the art within their families.
Common Ground Fair, September 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2014
This year we will be an area co-coordinator for the Maine Indian Basketmakers area and will showcase educational resources for the teaching of LD291.
