Purpose:

The purpose of the Tools for Successful Hiring module is to provide an overview of the hiring process with a focus on successfully getting the right person into a well-defined job in a manner that complies with legal and bargaining unit requirements as well as good management practices.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn how to write a good job description and understand why it is the cornerstone of successful hiring.
• Gain an awareness of potential pitfalls that may create legal, contractual, morale, timeliness, or other problems.
• Know how to access more detailed guidance and assistance at every step of the hiring process.
• Increase confidence of participating supervisors in their ability to hire a quality person effectively and in a timely manner.
