An assignment becomes official only when the faculty member receives written notice from the University. A part-time faculty member when possible will receive information about a proposed teaching assignment at least sixty (60) days prior to the start of the semester. This information may be given orally or in writing as department heads develop the schedule for the semester. The part-time faculty member when possible will receive the official written assignment at least thirty (30) days prior to the start of the semester. Last minute vacancies, late enrollments, add and drop, and similar circumstances frequently restrict the amount of notice available to faculty seeking assignment. However, appropriate notice will be provided whenever possible. In the absence of unusual circumstances, every effort will be made to provide the required notice.

The contract also requires that the names of part-time faculty be published in the course schedule when the course assignments are known prior to publication of a course schedule. Publishing faculty names benefits students in the registration process.
