APPLYING FOR HOUSING – SPRING 2014
The Spring 2014 housing application will be available on October 16, 2013. Incoming first-year and transfer students who have been accepted for the spring semester will receive an e-mail at their @maine.edu e-mail address letting them know they may apply for housing.
Please be sure that your MaineStreet profile has a number under “Home Phone”. If you do not have a home phone number, please put in 999-999-9999. We are unable to pull data from MaineStreet without something in the home phone field. Thank you!
TRANSFER STUDENTS/FIRST-YEAR RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT
Transfer students are not required to live on campus. Incoming students in their first year are required to live on campus unless they will be commuting from a parent or legal guardian’s home within a 35 mile radius of the campus, are veterans, or are 20 years or age or older.
SPRING 2014 ROOM ASSIGNMENTS
All students assigned for spring may view room assignments after December 16, 2013 by logging in to myHousing (at right) with a MaineStreet logon and password and clicking on the “check my assignment” button. If the button is not visible when logging in, it means a room has not yet been assigned.
Roommate and room change requests cannot be accommodated at this time due to space limitations.

If you have problems with your password, you may contact the HelpDesk at

SPRING 2014 ARRIVAL
New, incoming first-year and transfer students should plan to arrive on campus on Sunday, January 12, 2014 between 10am and 11pm for Spring 2014 check-in.
Returning students assigned to non-break halls should plan to arrive on campus on Sunday, January 12, 2014 between 10am and 11pm.

We encourage all students to have property insurance for their belongings. Please check your family’s homeowner policy to see if your belongings are covered while you are enrolled. Residence Halls – general information about each residence hall
University of Maine First Year Residence Requirement
Living on campus maximizes students’ opportunities for social, cultural and extracurricular involvement and is positively linked to students’ persistence toward attaining a degree. The University of Maine believes that residence hall living is an educational opportunity that all new students should experience. Living on campus for the first academic year is required for all admitted first-year students who are: aged 20 or younger; do not live with a parent or legal guardian within easy commuting distance (35 miles); are not student veterans; and do not have exceptional circumstances that prevent them from meeting this requirement.
All resident students have an academic year room and board license.
Transfer Living Community
Wherever you are transferring from, fantastic opportunities await you at the University of Maine. This community, located in Kennebec Hall, focuses on easing your transition to UMaine with activities that connect you with other community members and our active campus.
Transfer students who live in our transfer community have the opportunity to connect in an exciting and unique way. They have all the conveniences of living on campus plus the benefit of living with others who can relate to the transfer student experience. Please note: Kennebec Hall is not open for the semester or spring breaks. York Hall does not close during any of the breaks during the academic year.
