Course Descriptions: Spring 2014 - HTY 103: United States History I to 1877

Instructor:  Edward Martin

Time:  Tuesday and Thursday; 9:30 – 10:45 am

Description:  This course is an introductory survey of the history of the United States from 1603 to 1877.  It is designed to give students a broad exposure to the peoples and events that have shaped the United States from the Colonial Period through the Civil War and Reconstruction.  This class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Although the course has a lecture format, it will periodically break up into smaller groups for discussions.  The course is designed to provide students with an introduction to U.S. history and historical thinking.
