University of Maine personnel have been planning for H1N1-related contingencies since the virus emerged as a threat in the spring of 2009. These efforts focus on one goal: providing responses that help ensure the health and safety of the UMaine community.
Working closely with Maine Center for Disease Control officials and following federal guidelines, UMaine has developed a series of communications materials and recommendations related to the early stages of the 2009 fall semester and the planning group continues to meet regularly to discuss new developments and adjust accordingly. The result of this process is a dynamic, flexible plan that will continue to evolve as warranted.
Communication is a key to successfully managing H1N1 in a higher education setting. This Web site will serve as the primary means for communicating new information, so members of the UMaine community are encouraged to check here regularly, especially if they are affected directly by the virus or influenza-like symptoms.
