Letter from the President
Hello fellow Black Bears,
I would like to welcome you to the webpage of the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Order of Omega here at the University of Maine. Whether you are interested in applying, one of our alumnae, or just curious, I thank you for taking the time to discover more on what we are about.
Order of Omega is a national leadership honor society for members of fraternities and sororities. We recognize juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and involvement within their fraternity/sorority, campus, and local community.
Order of Omega was first founded at the University of Miami in 1959 and has since grown to over 500 chapters in the U.S. and Canada. Part of our purpose is to help create an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions. Our primary mission is not only to recognize Greeks who have attained a high standard of leadership activities, but to also encourage them to continue and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment.
The requirements to become a member are that you must be at least a junior in standing, which is 60 credits, maintain above a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be involved somehow whether it be within your own chapter, Greek life as a whole, on campus, or throughout the community.
It is a pleasure to serve as Chapter President of Zeta Kappa and to represent Greek Life in a positive light. I hope this website gives you a little more understanding. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have!
