Prospective members and guests,
Welcome to the Interfraternity Council website.
Fraternity life at the University of Maine concentrates on the 4 core values of academics, community service, involvement, and community building.
Above all else fraternities are devoted to academics. You as a student are here to receive an education and we want to help you do that. With our academic standards and programs we are here to ensure that you get the most out of your college education and reward your success as well as help out when needed.
As a whole Greek Life does more community service and raises more money for charity than any other student group on campus. Last year we logged thousands of community service hours and donated over $45,000 to charity. This was to benefit local, national, and international causes. If you are interested in learning more about individual chapter’s philanthropies please visit our chapter section.
Members of Greek Life here at UMaine make up the highest percent of leaders on campus. Though Greek Life is only 10% of the student population, we account for a majority of the leadership in groups across campus. In some way or another Greeks are involved in almost every student organization here at UMaine.
Community building on all levels is what the Greek system is based on. Whether it be on the chapter level of brotherhood bonding, the Greek community level of inter-chapter events such as Greek Week and Winter Carnival, or the greater community level through involvement and philanthropic efforts, Greeks are committed to strengthening all communities in which they are a part.
This is only the start of what Greek Life has to offer. If you would like to learn more I suggest you visit our chapter section and read about what each fraternity can offer you and your college career. In that section you will find contact information for all of the chapters. You can also contact anyone of the IFC Executive Board Members who are listed in the link at the top of this page.
