Assistant Director Kelly Beers: kelly.beers@umit.maine.edu
To join our first-year parent and family e-mail list, please send an email to kelly.beers@umit.maine.edu with “Add to email list” in the subject line. Our e-newsletter goes out about every two weeks, and includes information about important deadlines (class registration, FAFSA, housing registration), important things that are happening around campus, and we also include upcoming events that parents and families are invited to (Friends and Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc.).
Our Academic Support Coordinators:
Our Academic Support Coordinator (ASC) staff members work in the residence halls on campus to promote academic success. Each ASC is assigned to a particular group of residence halls, and works with the CC, ACC and RAs in that area to design and run programs and initiatives to support the students in that community. This may include opportunities for students to work on their time management or study skills, opportunities for students to explore different majors and minors, or direct outreach to students who seem to be at-risk academically. Contact information for our Academic Support Coordinator staff will be updated this summer.
In the residence halls:
Each residence hall is supervised by a professional staff member. Each of these staff members, called Community Coordinators (CCs), have an office and an apartment in their area of supervision. Each CC also has an Assistant Community Coordinator (ACC) who assists them in supervision of the buildings, supervision of the RA staff, and working with students in that area.
Any time that a student has a problem, he or she is welcome to contact or stop into the office of their CC or ACC. Students often come and see our staff for the following types of reasons:
