Description: Images from the E. Joseph Leighton photograph collection owned by the Lincoln County Cultural and Historical Association were exhibited at the University of Maine’s Memorial Union, May 10-30, 1979. The exhibit was curated by Michael Chaney with a youth grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Text panels to accompany the photographs were derived from oral history interviews conducted by Chaney with residents of Lincoln County, Maine, in 1978. The Lincoln County Project Collection includes the tape recorded interviews, copy prints of photos from the Joseph Leighton Collection, and paper documents pertaining to the exhibit and the tapes. Copy prints of images from the E. Joseph (“Joe”) Leighton Photograph Collection are found in the Northeast Archives as P1922 – P2238.
