4h-leaderDo you like birdwatching, cooking, gardening or working with animals? There are many interesting projects and fun things to do as part of 4-H. Imagine a young person’s satisfaction at learning a new skill, at doing a job well. Imagine your own satisfaction at watching a young person blossom. You can help our young people as they gain self-esteem — an essential ingredient for happy, productive citizens.

What are the ways I can be involved in 4-H in my county?

Whether you want to be a club leader or work with kids on a short-term project, there’s a role for you in your county’s 4-H program.

Leader:

4-H leaders teaching club members about wind power; photo by Edwin Remsberg, USDAThrough hands-on activities, help children ages 5-19 develop social skills, and to learn and grow. Share your skills, talents, and special interests, such as photography, horses, dogs, rabbits, community service, computers, whatever is best for you.

Chaperone:

Provide transportation, or simply go with a youth group to a special event or activity.

Short-Term Volunteer:

Teach a special interest program or assist a 4-H group with a special project.
