UMaine Extension Volunteers

Nearly 1,600 volunteers devoted more than 50,000 hours to their communities last year through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension!

Why do people volunteer? To serve their families and communities; to pursue their passions; to connect with like-minded people. Volunteers meet vital community needs, and in the process often transform their own lives.

We have volunteers working in youth development, horticulture, food preservation, environmental work, nutrition education, parenting education, and more.

I had always believed in helping others, but this is the first time I learned the value of helping with a very fundamental thing like sufficient and quality food. Maine Harvest for Hunger Volunteer
