EES students are passionate about the outdoors. When they aren’t in the classroom, many of our students can be found enjoying the limitless recreational opportunities on campus and beyond. The Orono campus has 2,000 acres of forests with 15 miles of trails suitable for walking, biking, horseback riding, skiing (groomed for skate and classic), and snowshoeing. Not far from Orono are many beautiful areas: the Orono Bog Boardwalk, Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, Moosehead Lake, to name just a few.
Many EES students participate in UMaine clubs such as the Green Campus Initiative, Green Team, Maine Outing Club, Ski and Snowboard Club, and The Wildlife Society.
