B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont

Why did you choose to attend grad school at UMaine? Why did you choose EES?
Dr. Olsen’s collaboration with Acadia National Park studying songbird migration and habitat use in the Gulf of Maine caught my interest.

Briefly describe the research project you are working on in 50 words or less.
I am examining, at multiple scales, habitat use and habitat selection of migratory songbirds stopping over in the Gulf of Maine during fall migration.

What has been your favorite class/es at UMaine so far?
Dr. Bill Halteman’s statistics classes

What has been your most rewarding research experience and why?
Living and banding birds on an island off the coast of Maine.

What advice to do you have for prospective graduate students?
Take time to think about your project, even if you don’t think you have any.

Are you interested in mentoring undergraduates?
No.
