Alumni - Dan Vasconcelos, M.S. 2003
What attracted you to the EES program at UMaine?
I was drawn to the EES program by its interdisciplinary nature and outstanding faculty, as well as the opportunity to conduct field research in some truly wild and scenic settings.
What did you like most about EES? How did your experience at UMaine help you in your career?
I most enjoyed being able to take a variety of classes across many different fields, including wildlife, botany, forestry, biology, statistics, and policy. This diverse background has allowed me to find success in a wide range of environmental occupations, including in the non-profit, private, and government sectors.
What are you doing now?
I am currently an Ecologist with the Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, where I review permit applications for compliance with federal environmental regulations. I also review wetland delineations, conduct site inspections, and provide vernal pool expertise to the district.
