Information for Students

1. Do I need to register for an account in Tk20?

Students do not register for an account themselves, rather the College of Education provides a list of student names and IDs to Tk20 for student account activation. Once Tk20 has activated a student’s account, he/she will receive an email in his/her MaineStreet (@maine.edu) email account. If you need a Tk20 account and did not recieve a confirmation email from Tk20, please contact the Tk20 Help Desk: TK20.support@umit.maine.edu.

2. Are all COEHD students required to participate in Tk20?

No, the Tk20 requirements only pertain to those students who are degree candidates in one of the NCATE accredited programs listed here. If your program is not listed, then you are not required to participate in Tk20 at this time.

3. How do I know what program I am officially enrolled in?

To check what program of study you are officially enrolled in, log into MaineStreet, go to your Student Center, and under the “Academics” section click on “My Academics”. Your program of study with sub plan/concentration should be listed there.

5. I forgot my Tk20 username, what do I do?

Tk20 usernames are usually composed of the first letter of your first name, your entire last name, and a series of four digits, beginning with 0000. (Ex: John Smith = jsmith0000). If you still cannot remember you can use the “forgot username and password?” link on the Tk20 login page.

Information for Faculty

1. How do I know which students in my course are required to upload assignments into TK20?

Follow these instructions below. Once in Tk20:

1. Click on the ‘courses’ tab

2. On the left-hand side of the screen click on “course reports” which is located underneath “reports”

3. Click on “033 My Course Rosters” which appears as a blue hyperlink

4. At the next screen you will select the semester, course and section for which you would like to see the course roster.

5. Click on “display report”.

This roster only includes students who are identified as being in an NCATE program. If there is a student in your class that should be on the list and is not, please have them notify Steve Allen if they are an undergraduate student or Becky Libby if they are a graduate student.

2. How do I change the due date of an assignment?

This guide will walk you through the steps for how to change the due date of an assignment for an entire class:

3. My student submitted an assignment without an attachment or submitted the wrong file. What can he or she do?

If you have not yet submitted an assessment for this student, the student can recall his or her assignment, upload the correct file, and resubmit to you. If, however, you begin grading the student’s assignment with the missing or incorrect file, the student will be unable to recall his or her work. In this case you will need to grant the student an extension, which will reopen the document for editing.

This guide will walk you through the steps for granting an extension to individual students:

4. Can a student still submit work for a class even though the deadline has passed?
The answer is yes. You simply need to grant the student an extension on the assignment. Make sure you only grant extensions to individual students and not to the entire class. If you grant a blanket extension to the entire class, all work submitted by students up to that point will be lost. This guide will walk you through the steps for granting an extension to individual students:
