Advising Center - Meet the Advisors

Hi, I am Erin Straine, Coordinator of Academic Advising and Student Services at the College of Education and Human Development. Prior to coming to the Advising Center I taught 6th grade science in South Carolina and then moved to Maine to obtain my master’s degree in Higher Education at UMaine.  I am originally from Ohio where I completed my undergraduate degree in education at Ohio University. I consider Maine to be my new home and have loved living in this beautiful state.  I love traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

Hi, I am Faith Erhardt, Student Support Specialist in the Advising Center. I graduated from UM with degrees in English and Secondary Education and spent several years teaching high school English. After some time, I went back to school and earned my M.Ed. in Counselor Education.   After that, I worked as a counselor for 13 years with UMaine’s Upward Bound program.  I fell in love with the smart, motivated UB high school students who would be the first in their families to graduate from college. Now at The Advising Center, I am lucky to support students in the College of Education and Human Development as they navigate the academic and experiential opportunities that are offered to create a happy, educated school professional. I live with my husband the nurse and two little boys in a house that always could be a bit more organized. We love living in Orono and being just steps away from hiking trails, Collins Center for the Arts and, of course, Pat’s Pizza.

Greetings!  My name is C.J. and I am one of your Academic Advisors for this year.  I am happy to assist you in any way that I can.  Maine is my home and I am glad to be back after several years away.  I received my Bachelor’s in Music Education from Florida State University in 2007 and then spent the next four years as an officer in the Marine Corps.  I came to UMaine in January 2012 shortly after leaving active duty and am working towards a M.Ed. in School Counseling.  I enjoy spending time with my growing family, music (classical, jazz, oldies), and outdoor activities -hiking, hunting, and fishing.

Welcome to the Advising Center.  My name is Cassandra Robinson and I am an Academic Advisor here in the College of Education.  My job is to help you through your first years here at the University.

I graduated from UMaine in 2012 with my degree in elementary education.  I am now a graduate student, pursuing a degree in special education.  I was born and raised in Maine and I plan to continue living and teaching in Maine when I’m done with my graduate degree.  My dream is to teach in an elementary school in a special education classroom or in grades 2-4.

In my spare time I love spend time with friends and to dance.  This year marks my 15th year of dance.  As a grad student I will continue to be apart of the Dance and Tap Club here on campus.  I am also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the Educational Honor Society here at UMaine.  During the year I spend time volunteering for Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with life threatening illnesses.
