Doctoral Programs

The University of Maine College of Education and Human Development’s doctoral programs are designed to help forward-thinking scholars, institutional leaders and policymakers address complex issues and meet ongoing and future challenges at all levels of education. Our faculty emphasize using research to address real-world problems, and bridge theory-to-practice gaps. Students in the PreK-12 Education Ph.D. can tailor their experience with concentrations in Literacy Education and Prevention and Intervention. The STEM Education program is an interdisciplinary degree for those interested in improving the quality of science, technology, engineering or mathematics education through research. Our Ed.D. in Educational Leadership faculty have extensive experience, an awareness of the cultural importance of Maine communities, and are nationally recognized for their expertise in rural education. In our Higher Education doctoral program, students learn to be ethical, visionary, informed and competent leaders of colleges and universities.
