About: The University of Maine Career Center, a department within the Division of Student Affairs, serves all students and fee-paying alumni of the University of Maine. Through its services and programs, the Center promotes effective career planning skills, teaches job search strategies, and facilitates contacts between University of Maine students and alumni and employers. The Career Center offers assistance to students as they explore their academic interests and the relationship between majors and career opportunities. Assistance with job-seeking skills, full-time employment, and graduate/professional school options is provided through various program offerings. The Career Center also coordinates the Experiential Education program, providing work/learning opportunities in conjunction with over 50 academic departments.

About: Distance Education courses are offered in many disciplines throughout the year. Online course offerings are marketed via UMaineOnline. Other options are available via various technologies and formats including interactive television, compressed video, internet, intranet, video streaming technologies and combinations of these systems. Depending on the technology utilized, students participate in the class “live” or asynchronously through materials archived online. Distance Education satisfies the needs of a diverse student population as near as the University of Maine and as far as the most remote international location. The program offers maximum flexibility, allowing students to plan courses around their demanding schedules. Technology brings previously inaccessible courses to many more students, facilitating degree completion for some and opening new learning pathways for others.

About: The Raymond H. Fogler Library is the designated State Research Library for Business, Science, and Technology (P. & S. 1999, ch. 33, Laws of Maine).  Fogler Library serves as a resource for meeting the science, technology and business information needs of the citizens of state. The Library serves as a portal for information resources in these areas. As such, part of the mission of the Library is to collect, evaluate, organize and disseminate science, technology and business information resources to the people of Maine.

About: The Department of University Relations is principally responsible for sharing the university’s story with the media, the public and the university community itself, while also providing marketing counsel and related creative services in the areas of writing, photography, graphic design, multimedia and audio/visual production needs to the University of Maine community. To do so, it employs a number of vehicles targeting campus and off-campus audiences.Through the Web Office, the department oversees the management of the university’s websites.  Through Creative Services, it oversees advertising and regulates the commercial and internal use of the university’s name and identifying marks; it consults with university offices and departments on their proper use. The department also issues the university’s official style guide. The department assists all units of the university, stressing a team approach in defining and translating marketing and communication needs.
