Maine Tree Club Outing

Maine Tree Club Outing
Rines Forest, Cumberland
Sunday, September 29, 2013
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Join Shane Duigan, District Forester with the Maine Forest Service, as he leads us on a tree identification tour through Rines Forest in Cumberland.

Rines Forest is part of a 900 acre contiguous block of un-fragmented forest habitat. The property is comprised of flat terrain and steep rolling hills interspersed with cascading streams. The diverse plant life includes hemlock, pine, red oak, birch, poplar and maple. All of which serve as a perfect canopy for the forest’s wildlife population of deer, coyote, fox, ruffed grouse, turkey, snowshoe hare, fisher, porcupine, hawks and owls.

Location & Directions:
Access to the Rines Forest is off Range Road in Cumberland Center. Parking and the trailhead are 1.7 miles from ME Routes 26/100 on the left or 1.4 miles from ME Route 9 via a short connection on Winn Road (from ME Route 9 take Winn Road 0.3 miles and turn right onto Range Road). Trailhead and parking are on the right if coming from ME Route 9.

We will meet at the trailhead.

This event is free and open to the public.

RSVP before Wednesday, September 25, to UMaine Extension at 207-780-6099 or
